During the funeral ceremony of DMD leader Vijayakanth, who is revered by his supporters as Karupupu MGR, the sight of black men flying in the sky made him emotional.
DMD chief Vijayakanth died on 28th due to pneumonia. DMD volunteers from different regions came to Chennai when they came to know that his condition was critical.

Eventually, the crowd increased over time. This stopped Koyamebede. After consultation with the government, Vijayakanth’s body was placed on the island for public tribute. A large number of volunteers paid their respects to Vijayakanth there. After this, his funeral procession left Iluthidal for the party headquarters in Koyambedu. People stood in large numbers and tearfully paid homage to the body of Vijayakanth which was kept at Poonder. They stood on top of the roofs, towers, houses and offices and paid by sprinkling flowers. Premalatha and her sons greeted him with shouts.
