Bloomberg quoted Yonhap News Agency on June 24th as saying that some South Korean airlines have suspended some flights to China. Yonhap News Agency believes that this is bad news for China-South Korea relations.
According to the report, Yonhap News Agency quoted sources as saying that Korean Air will suspend the Gimpo-Beijing flight from August 1 to October 28, and will suspend the Gimpo-Xiamen flight from August 9 to October 28.
The report also said that Asiana Airlines, another South Korean airline, will suspend the Gimpo-Beijing flight from July 6, and suspend the Incheon-Shenzhen flight from July 8. The flight from Incheon to Xi’an has been suspended since June 20th. Asiana Airlines will resume all suspended flights on October 28.
In its report, Bloomberg mentioned the recent diplomatic dispute between China and South Korea. Relations between China and South Korea have been strained by allegations that China’s ambassador to South Korea, Xing Haiming, criticized South Korea’s foreign policy.
When Xing Haiming met with Lee Jae-myung, the leader of the South Korean opposition party this month, he hoped that South Korea could get rid of the interference of external factors when handling relations with China; the United States is trying its best to suppress China, and some people bet that the United States will win and China will lose and did not see the general trend of history clearly; these people do not understand China’s history and China’s social system, they can only talk on paper; 30 years ago, some people bad-mouthed China and threw out the so-called “Coming Collapse of China.” The achievements proved those people wrong. “Those who bet against China now will regret it in the future.”
The South Korean government’s China policy has been controversial recently. On the Taiwan issue, which concerns China’s core interests, the South Korean side made “improper, wrong and even dangerous” remarks, which aroused strong resentment and vigilance in Chinese society.
