Mamata Banerjee to meet PM on MGNREGA

Kolkata: Reiterating her grievance over non-disbursal of funds in MGNREGA, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said on Sunday that she will visit New Delhi to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi from December 18-20 on MGNREGA funds and other central schemes related disbursal.”I have sought an appointment from Prime Minister Narendra Modi. I am going to New Delhi from 18-20 December. I would like to meet him with some MPs and discuss the disbursement of funds for the 100-day work scheme,” Banerjee said while speaking at a rally in Alipurduar today.”Give poor people’s money immediately in 100day’s work. Otherwise “Godi Chharo” (Leave the chair). There is a total due of Rs 1.15 lakh crore in MGNREGA, Gramin Sadak Yojana (rural road scheme), PM Awas Yojana and other schemes,” Banerjee said in her speech. She questioned that if other states are receiving money from the central government, why is West Bengal deprived? “”The Centre has also not given our dues in housing schemes, 100-days work, rural roads and various other schemes. They have also stopped our share of money for various schemes,” Banerjee said. A Trinamool team of MPs and state ministers, led by Trinamool National General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee, visited Delhi and gave dharna in New Delhi.”If you are getting funds from the Centre, you have to give them the accounts. Otherwise, how will you get funds,” BJP State President Sukanta Majumdar said.”We recently saw a central team in Balagarh and several other teams have visited Bengal earlier. In Uttar Pradesh alone, three lakh fake job cards were found. Then why is UP given funds?” questioned Trinamool spokesperson Krishanu Mitra.”Why did they not go last year? Take your accounts, meet the Home Minister or PM and take your dues. Do it truthfully and we are with you,” Dilip Ghosh, former BJP state President said.CPI-M Polit Bureau member Sujan Chakraborty said, “Is she going for dues to the PM or some other reasons to save her nephew and herself. If she is going for MGNREGA dues, they should take detailed accounts and claim the money.”
